My Uncle Melvin's loving precense in my life will always be with me, in my skin and cells. His sparkling laughter could fill a room, his smile always filled with love. Now at age 35, I can hear his sweet voice with my Aunt Judy's on a tape made by them when I was around 3 or 4 years old. The two of them encouraging me to sing my A,B,C's and delighted by each fouled attempt to sing right. I will always miss him at family holidays, it is still impossible to imagine a thanksgiving or passover table without him at the head. After his death I learned so much about him as a scholar, professor and friend. I feel so blessed to have had him in my life as an uncle and a loving, available father figure. How lucky we all are to have known him and been influenced by his spirit. May we all cultivate that energy he had, that ability to look into a person's eyes and really listen, really love and share deep laughter.
